Indexed description

Zurich is one of Europe's most demanding data centre markets - and this operator runs mission-critical facilities serving hyperscale, colocation and enterprise clients across Switzerland. They are hiring an experienced Data Center Engineer to keep those environments running and to support their next phase of expansion.

About the opportunity

You will sit inside a multidisciplinary operations team responsible for uptime across server infrastructure, network hardware, structured cabling and critical facility systems. Day to day you will work alongside Data Centre Operations, Network Engineers, Facilities, Project Managers, customers and third-party vendors - installing, maintaining and upgrading live production infrastructure without dropping availability.

This is hands-on, floor-based engineering in a high-availability environment, with real exposure to hyperscale and colocation deployments.

What you will be doing

  • Install, rack, stack and commission servers, storage systems and network equipment
  • Perform hardware upgrades, break-fix maintenance and component-level diagnostics (CPU, memory, drives, PSUs, NICs)
  • Install and maintain structured copper and fibre optic cabling; own labelling, rack layouts and cable management standards
  • Deliver remote hands support for enterprise and hyperscale customers
  • Support switch installation, patching and cross-connect management
  • Respond to incidents within SLA and execute approved change requests
  • Support decommissioning, technology refresh and asset management records
  • Produce accurate maintenance reports and technical documentation

What you will need

  • Degree, HND or equivalent in IT, Computer Engineering, Electronics, Network Engineering or similar
  • Proven experience inside a live production data centre environment
  • Strong hands-on experience with enterprise server hardware (Dell, HPE, Lenovo, Cisco)
  • Structured cabling and fibre optic installation experience
  • Solid TCP/IP fundamentals and hardware fault-finding ability
  • Comfortable with iDRAC / iLO / IPMI and ITSM tooling
  • Fluent English, written and spoken

Nice to have

  • Hyperscale or colocation experience
  • Basic Linux / Windows Server administration; VMware exposure
  • ServiceNow or similar ITSM platform
  • CCNA, CompTIA Server+, BICSI or vendor hardware certifications
  • ITIL Foundation; ISO 27001 / ISO 9001 environments
  • German language skills

Working pattern

Non-Friday shift pattern - Earlies 07:00-16:00 / Lates 12:00-20:00, on site in Zurich.

What is on offer

CHF 80,000 - CHF 95,000 depending on experience, plus a comprehensive benefits package: company pension, private healthcare, life assurance, annual performance bonus, generous annual leave, funded technical training and certification, structured onboarding, and genuine progression inside a global data centre organisation.

Apply

If you are a data centre engineer who wants scale, modern infrastructure and a clear route forward, apply with your CV and we will come back to you quickly.
