Pay range and compensation package
$110,000 – $125,000, based on experience
We are currently seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Network Engineer I to join their growing team.
About the Role
As a Network Engineer I, you will support the design, implementation, and maintenance of the company's network infrastructure under the guidance of their senior engineering team. You will collaborate closely with other engineers to ensure the stability, security, and scalability of the network. This role offers fantastic hands-on learning opportunities in routing protocols, basic network automation, and Layer 2 networking—providing the perfect environment to build a strong foundation in telecommunications engineering.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the design, implementation, and maintenance of robust network infrastructures.
- Follow documented processes to configure and deploy network devices accurately.
- Help configure and troubleshoot basic routing protocols, including BGP, OSPF, and IS-IS.
- Support the development of simple network automation scripts utilizing Python and Ansible.
- Learn and utilize GitHub for version control and team collaboration on network projects.
- Participate in network performance monitoring and assist with basic optimization tasks.
- Assist in maintaining network security and ensuring compliance with industry standards.
- Collaborate with remote on-site technicians to resolve physical network issues.
- Help create, update, and document network configurations, procedures, and basic designs.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent hands-on experience).
Required Skills:
- Experience: 2+ years of relevant experience in networking or telecommunications (internships and entry-level roles count!).
- Layer 1: Experience troubleshooting physical network equipment and cabling.
- Layer 2: Solid understanding of networking technologies, such as MPLS and EVPL.
- Layer 3: Basic familiarity with BGP, OSPF, and IS-IS routing protocols.
- Automation: Introductory knowledge of Python and Ansible for network automation.
- Tools: Awareness of GitHub for version control.
- Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities, excellent communication skills, and experience creating and maintaining process documentation.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with Cisco, Juniper, or other enterprise network equipment.
- Entry-level certifications (e.g., CCNA, JNCIA, Network+).
- Basic knowledge of network security practices.
- Familiarity with cloud networking environments (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- A strong interest in Software-Defined Networking (SDN) technologies.
