Network Security Engineer

Akkodis is seeking a hands-on Network & Security Engineer to support and maintain the company's critical network, security, and IT infrastructure. This role is ideal for an experienced engineer who thrives in a fast-paced operational environment, enjoys troubleshooting complex issues, and takes pride in keeping systems running smoothly.

Unlike architecture or design-focused positions, this role is heavily centered on day-to-day network operations, incident resolution, ticket management, infrastructure support, and end-user assistance. The successful candidate will serve as a key technical resource responsible for maintaining network reliability, security, and overall IT functionality across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot enterprise network infrastructure, including routers, switches, wireless networks, VPNs, and firewalls.
• Support and administer Cisco networking technologies, including Cisco ASR routers, Cisco Wireless Controllers, and other Cisco enterprise networking products.
• Investigate and resolve network connectivity, routing, security, and performance issues.
• Manage and support firewall configurations, VPN connectivity, and network security operations.
• Handle technical support tickets and provide timely resolution to infrastructure and end-user issues.
• Provide IT support for Ubuntu Linux, macOS, and Windows environments.
• Support employee workstations, laptops, peripherals, software installations, and system troubleshooting.
• Assist with office IT operations, hardware deployments, inventory management, and general technical support tasks.
• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure network availability, system reliability, and operational excellence.
• Document troubleshooting procedures, configurations, and support activities.

Required Qualifications

• CCNP certification preferred or CCNP with 1–2 years of professional networking experience, or
• 5–6+ years of hands-on network engineering experience.
• Strong experience supporting enterprise networking environments.
• Experience with Cisco routing, switching, wireless, and security technologies.
• Working knowledge of VPNs, firewalls, routing protocols, and network troubleshooting.
• Experience supporting Ubuntu Linux, macOS, and Windows operating systems.
• Background in IT helpdesk, desktop support, or end-user support environments.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a ticket-driven support environment.

Preferred Skills

• Experience supporting mixed enterprise environments with networking and systems responsibilities.
• Familiarity with network monitoring and management tools.
• Experience working in security-conscious or highly regulated environments.
• Strong communication skills and a customer-service mindset.
