Low Voltage Technician / Field Technician

Role Description The Low Voltage Technician / Field Technician role is a full-time, on-site position based in St Paul, MN. This role involves installing, configuring, and maintaining low voltage systems such as security, access control, surveillance, and related building technology. Day-to-day tasks include performing site surveys, pulling and terminating cables, testing and troubleshooting system performance, and documenting work performed. The technician will interact with customers on-site, coordinate with project managers and other team members, and ensure that installations meet safety standards, technical specifications, and company quality guidelines. The role may require driving to client locations within the region, working in a variety of facility types, and occasionally performing work outside standard business hours as projects require.

Qualifications

• Technical proficiency with low voltage systems, including installation, configuration, and basic programming of security, access control, and surveillance equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret technical documents such as wiring diagrams, schematics, and installation manuals, and to follow industry and safety standards.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills for diagnosing cabling, connectivity, and device issues in the field.
• Effective communication and customer service skills to interact with clients and collaborate with internal teams on-site.
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects in a field-based environment.
• Comfort working on ladders, in confined spaces, and in various indoor and outdoor conditions, with adherence to safety practices.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for travel to customer sites in the St Paul, MN area.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; additional technical training, certifications (e.g., low voltage, security systems, networking), or experience in a similar role are beneficial.
• Willingness to learn new technologies and adapt to evolving customer needs and industry standards.
