Role Overview

We’re representing a highly technical algorithmic trading firm making its first dedicated US hire into datacenter operations. This is a hands-on infrastructure role owning the physical environments behind latency-sensitive trading across the Americas, covering colocation builds, hardware deployment, structured cabling, optical connectivity, server integration and site-change execution. It suits someone who has worked close to trading infrastructure and can combine practical datacenter delivery with enough networking and systems knowledge to operate confidently across live, high-performance environments...

Key Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of physical infrastructure delivery across US and Americas colocation environments
  • Lead new site builds, cage expansions, hardware moves, refresh activity and datacenter change windows
  • Build and maintain clean, labelled and scalable rack, cabling, power and connectivity layouts
  • Install, configure and validate server hardware, including NICs, PCIe cards, firmware and replacement components
  • Support deployment of low-latency network infrastructure across switches, routers, fibre and optical links
  • Troubleshoot physical-layer, hardware, connectivity and routing-adjacent issues in trading-critical environments
  • Coordinate remote-hands engineers, colocation providers, exchanges, brokers, vendors and internal technology teams
  • Produce clear operational documentation, deployment plans, change records, test procedures and post-change checks
  • Support inventory, logistics and equipment tracking where required for regional infrastructure delivery
  • Provide occasional weekend or out-of-hours support for planned datacenter work, with time off in lieu

What You’ll Bring…

  • 4+ years’ experience in datacenter operations, infrastructure operations or physical infrastructure engineering
  • Proven background supporting low-latency trading, market connectivity, exchange, broker or financial colocation environments
  • Hands-on experience with switches, routers, cabling, optics and physical network deployment
  • Working knowledge of BGP, OSPF and multicast, with enough depth to support implementation and troubleshooting
  • Confidence working inside servers, including hardware diagnostics, component replacement, firmware updates and card installation
  • Strong understanding of fibre optics, transceivers, SFP/SFP+/QSFP/DWDM and optical-networking basics
  • Strong change-control discipline, including planning, documentation, testing and post-change validation
  • Prior involvement in Americas colocation builds, expansions, migrations or exchange-connectivity projects
  • Clear communication skills for remote-hands instruction, vendor management and coordination with engineering teams
  • (Preferred) Experience with Cisco, Arista, Mellanox/NVIDIA networking or Dell server environments
