Network Engineer – End Device (SC Clearance Required)

Location Emley Moor (Hybrid working - Shift based hours)

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and manage RAN, Core, and site-based network elements, ensuring optimal RF performance, coverage, capacity, and service availability.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve faults affecting Radio Access Networks, Regional Network Interfaces, Transmission Systems, and Core services, leveraging remote diagnostics and field engineering support.
  • Manage network degradations and outages, analysing service impact and implementing corrective actions to maintain KPI and SLA targets.
  • Lead operational response to major service-affecting incidents, coordinating engineering resources to restore network performance and customer experience.
  • Assess the impact of planned RF and network changes, validating implementation plans to minimise risk to coverage, capacity, and service quality.
  • Engage with vendors and technical stakeholders to support network upgrades, new site integrations, and infrastructure changes across national mobile networks.

Qualification

  • A Higher Education or professional qualification in a relevant discipline

Technical/Functional Knowledge And Experience Required

  • Continuous Improvement – knows and applies tools and techniques to drive improvements in engineering operations
  • Digital Principles – experience of digital signals, coding techniques, modulation and multiplexing techniques and fibre optic communication.
  • Experience preferred of Solarwinds, vROPS, vRNI, SPLUNK, Cisco routers, Linux, Log Insight.
  • Experience preferred of ServiceNow FSM and Incident Management
  • Regulation and Standards – understands relevant regulatory, industry and customer standards, including customer service level agreements.
  • Safety, Health and Environment- understands and applies legislation, policies and procedures relevant to role.
  • System Architecture - understand the principles of design, architecture, development and maintenance of a complex data network.
  • Systems and Equipment – experience of systems and equipment relevant to role such as RF systems and Data Networks, Telecoms.
  • Test and Measurement - able to conduct complex measurements, evaluate results and take appropriate action; maintains test equipment effectively.
  • The ability to obtain SC Clearance within 3 months of starting the role.
