Are you passionate about building and maintaining reliable, high-performance IT infrastructure? We are looking for an Infrastructure Engineer to join our client's Infrastructure & Engineering team and play a key role in supporting critical platforms and services across multiple data centre and office environments.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced infrastructure professional who enjoys working across server, storage, virtualisation, Linux, networking, while contributing to a modern, highly available technology landscape.
What You'll Be Doing
As an Infrastructure Engineer, you will be responsible for the operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the organisation's infrastructure environment, ensuring systems remain secure, resilient, and scalable.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain physical server and storage infrastructure across multiple colocation data centres
- Coordinate hardware deployments
- Monitor infrastructure health, including hardware performance, storage capacity, environmental conditions, and availability
- Administer virtualisation environments, including Proxmox VE and Linux-based virtual machines
- Manage and support Ceph and ZFS storage platforms
- Provision, patch, upgrade, and monitor Linux servers and infrastructure components
- Operate and maintain core infrastructure services such as DNS, DHCP, NTP, certificate services, and related networking components
- Implement, test, and improve backup, recovery, high-availability, and disaster recovery processes
- Maintain accurate infrastructure documentation, asset inventories, lifecycle plans, and warranty records
- Support infrastructure automation and configuration management initiatives
- Troubleshoot network connectivity issues involving Cisco networking, firewall, VPN, and security technologies
- Administer Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Active Directory, and Exchange Online environments
- Participate in incident management, infrastructure change activities, and an on-call support rotation
Required Skills & Experience
- Hands-on experience in Linux system administration
- Experience with virtualisation technologies such as Proxmox, VMware, Kubernetes
- Knowledge of storage technologies
- Strong understanding of server hardware, operating system deployment, patching, and infrastructure monitoring
- Experience with backup, restoration, high availability, and disaster recovery practices
- Good understanding of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and NTP
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Nice to Have
- Experience with scripting or automation using Bash, PowerShell, Python, or similar languages
- Exposure to Cisco networking technologies, Palo Alto firewalls, and VPN solutions
- Experience administering Microsoft 365, Entra ID, and Active Directory
- Knowledge of infrastructure automation and configuration management tools
