Network Engineer III Defense Network Systems

Location: Colorado Springs, CO

Compensation: Approximately $115,000 depending on experience

Clearance: Active Top Secret required

Work Arrangement: Full-Time / 100% On-Site

We are recruiting for a Network Engineer III to support the buildout, deployment, integration, testing, and sustainment of secure network capabilities for mission-critical defense programs. This role serves as a primary Network Development Engineer within an Agile team environment and supports network upgrades across operational sites.

This position is ideal for a hands-on network engineer with strong routing, switching, firewall, troubleshooting, and secure DoD networking experience.

Key Responsibilities

Support network buildout and deployment activities into operational environments

Plan, deploy, integrate, and test network upgrades at operational sites

Serve As a Primary Network Engineer Supporting Program Requirements

Work within an Agile Scrum team to execute customer and contractual requirements

Perform independent troubleshooting, diagnostics, and network traffic analysis

Support network installations at remote locations, including potential travel to Guam, Alaska, Europe, and other operational sites

Provide status updates and technical reporting to program personnel

Support secure network operations within a classified environment

Work Environment

This position is performed in a secure, classified workspace and requires compliance with all applicable security protocols, access-control procedures, and sensitive-information handling requirements. The role requires full-time on-site presence in Colorado Springs.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

Active Top Secret clearance required

Bachelors degree with 5+ years of experience, or Masters degree with 3+ years of experience

Hands-on network engineering experience in design, development, testing, and troubleshooting

Strong understanding of OSI model, TCP/IP, BGP, and OSPF

Experience with network traffic analysis and diagnostics

Hands-on firewall experience, especially Juniper, Fortinet, and Palo Alto

Experience with UDP multicast, SONET, MSPP, VLANs, GRE tunnels, and TCP/IP network design

Experience with multi-vendor routing and switching, especially Juniper and Cisco

Experience with WAN optimizers, TACLANEs, and optical transport equipment

Understanding of DoD security practices, STIG compliance, and system accreditation

CCNA or JNCIA certification required within 30 days of start

DoD 8570 IAT Level II compliance required
