Basic Qualifications

  • Qualified candidate must be able to obtain a DoD Interim Secret Security Clearance prior to starting this position. This requires US Citizenship and the candidate must have a valid US passport.
  • An 8140 compliant certification (e.g., Security+, GSEC, SSCP, CISSP, CISA).
  • Foundational knowledge of network design, OSI model, TCP/IP, and routing protocols (BGP, OSPF).
  • Ability to travel to alternate work locations for deployments and field projects.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills; proficient with Microsoft PowerPoint and Visio.

Job Description

What We’re Doing

At Lockheed Martin, our Command and Control, Battle Management and Communications (C2BMC) National Team (C2NT) is pioneering the development and integration of cutting-edge technologies to advance the Missile Defense System, safeguarding the United States and its allies. Our collaborative and agile organization operates in a fast-paced environment, driving innovation through tasks such as sensor/weapon integration, algorithm development, user interface development, automated testing, cyber security, enterprise/infrastructure services, and enhancing leading-edge missile defense technologies.

The Work

The Network Engineer II will serve as the primary Network Development Engineer for the C2BMC program, supporting the design, build‑out, deployment, integration, and testing of network upgrades to operational sites. Working within an Agile Scrum team, you will translate customer requirements and contract obligations into actionable plans, travel to remote locations for installations and troubleshooting, and provide status updates to program personnel. Flexibility to respond to real‑world events, including nights and weekends, is essential.

  • This position is based at a Lockheed Martin facility in Colorado Springs, CO. The role requires flexibility to travel to alternate work locations as needed (valid passport required)

Desired Skills

  • Experience with multi vendor switching/routing (Juniper, Cisco) and WAN optimizers.
  • Proficiency in firewall technologies (Juniper, Fortinet, Palo Alto).
  • Knowledge of UDP multicast, SONET, MSPP, VLANs, GRE tunnels, and advanced TCP/IP designs.
  • Hands on expertise with network traffic analysis, diagnostics, and troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with TACLANE devices and optical transport equipment.
  • Ability to work within Agile/Scrum frameworks and manage contract driven deliverables.
  • Preferred: Active Top Secret clearance.
