Data Center Support Technician (Level 1)


Job Summary

We are seeking a Data Center Level 1 Technician with 2–5 years of hands-on IT infrastructure experience to provide onsite technical support within a data center environment. The ideal candidate will support hardware installations, network infrastructure, end-user devices, and Smart Hands activities while working closely with remote technical teams.

This role is ideal for technicians with experience in data center operations, desktop support, network support, and hardware maintenance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide onsite technical support for PCs, laptops, servers, cabling, monitors, televisions, projectors, phones, peripherals, and site security equipment.
  • Perform Smart Hands activities for data center infrastructure and customer equipment.
  • Assist with the support of data center and application architecture.
  • Troubleshoot basic network connectivity issues.
  • Support switches, routers, firewalls, and other network devices under the guidance of the remote engineering team.
  • Assist with hardware installation, replacement, integration, and customization within operating systems and network environments.
  • Support backup infrastructure, tape libraries, and Exchange environments.
  • Work collaboratively with remote technical teams and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Document activities, prepare technical reports, and communicate progress effectively.
  • Follow standard operating procedures while exercising sound technical judgment on assigned tasks.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 2–5 years of experience in Data Center, Desktop Support, or IT Infrastructure roles.
  • Strong knowledge of PC and laptop hardware troubleshooting.
  • Experience with structured cabling and peripheral devices.
  • Basic networking knowledge, including LAN, switches, routers, firewalls, and access points.
  • Familiarity with data center operations and Smart Hands support.
  • Knowledge of backup systems, tape infrastructure, and Exchange environments.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while coordinating with remote engineering teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting enterprise IT environments.
  • Previous experience working in data centers or mission-critical facilities.
  • Understanding of hardware integration and operating system deployment.
  • Exposure to Nutanix environments is an advantage.

Mandatory Training

Selected technicians will be required to complete a free 1-hour online Nutanix Hardware Replacement Training provided by Hemmersbach.

  • Includes a 20-question assessment.
  • A minimum score of 90% is required to become a qualified technician.
  • Training must be completed successfully before attending any customer site.
