Network Security Engineer IV

Location: Viriginia Beach, VA (On-site)

Clearance: MUST HAVE ACTIVE SECRET CLEARANCE OR HIGHER

Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Network Security Engineer IV to support enterprise network security operations in a secure Department of Defense (DoD) environment. The ideal candidate will possess advanced experience in network engineering, cybersecurity hardening, vulnerability remediation, and Cisco network infrastructure support. This role will be responsible for securing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing complex network environments while ensuring compliance with DoD cybersecurity policies and standards.

The successful candidate must have experience performing Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) implementation, vulnerability assessments, packet analysis, and network troubleshooting within enterprise environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, configure, maintain, and secure enterprise network infrastructure and security solutions.
• Perform network hardening activities in accordance with DoD STIG requirements and cybersecurity best practices.
• Conduct vulnerability assessments using Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS) and assist with remediation efforts.
• Configure and maintain Cisco networking devices including switches, routers, and related infrastructure.
• Utilize packet analysis and troubleshooting tools such as Wireshark and tcpdump to diagnose network and security issues.
• Monitor, analyze, and troubleshoot network connectivity, performance, and security incidents.
• Support cybersecurity compliance initiatives and ensure systems adhere to DoD 8140 and RMF requirements.
• Collaborate with cybersecurity, systems administration, and engineering teams to implement secure network solutions.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation, diagrams, and standard operating procedures.
• Assist with incident response activities and root cause analysis related to network security events.
• Provide technical recommendations for network optimization, security enhancements, and infrastructure modernization efforts.

Required Qualifications

Education

Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Cyber Operations, Cyber Engineering, Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics with a concentration in Computer Science, or an equivalent discipline

Certifications

• One of the following IAT Level III (CASP, CCNP, CISA, CISSP, GCED, GCIH, CCSP)
• Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) certification

Experience

Minimum 10 years of full-time professional experience in:

• Network security including the design, implementation, configuration, and enforcement of security controls on network, hardware, and software components and devices
• STIG implementation
• Managing enterprise-level deployments of Active Directory
• Performing vulnerability assessments using the Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS) tool
• Configuring Cisco networking devices
• Using packet analysis tools such as Wireshark and tcpdump
• Troubleshooting network connectivity issues
• Implementing and managing firewalls and IDS/IPS solutions

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting DoD or federal government environments.
• Familiarity with RMF, NIST, and DISA cybersecurity standards.
• Experience supporting classified or highly secure network environments.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a fast-paced operational environment.

Clearance Requirement

• Active Secret clearance or ability to obtain and maintain one may be required based on program needs.

Work Location

• On-site position in support of a secure government environment.
