Role Description The Low Voltage Installer is a full-time, on-site role based in Cincinnati, OH. This position is responsible for installing, terminating, and testing low-voltage cabling and devices for voice, data, access control, video surveillance and related systems. Day-to-day tasks include reading and interpreting wiring diagrams and floor plans, pulling and routing cable, mounting and securing equipment, and ensuring all work meets safety standards and industry codes. The installer will troubleshoot and repair cabling issues, perform quality checks, complete documentation of installed systems, and coordinate with project managers, clients, and other trades on-site. The role also involves maintaining tools and equipment, adhering to project schedules, and providing professional customer service during installations and service calls.

Qualifications

  • Candidates should possess skills in low-voltage cabling installation, termination, and testing (e.g., Cat5e/Cat6, coax, and fiber where applicable).
  • Candidates should possess skills in reading blueprints, interpreting wiring diagrams, and using basic hand and power tools safely and effectively.
  • Candidates should possess skills in troubleshooting network and cabling issues, identifying faults, and performing repairs or adjustments on-site.
  • Candidates should possess skills in adhering to safety protocols, following NEC and industry standards, and working neatly and efficiently in commercial environments.
  • Candidates should possess skills in clear communication, collaborating with project teams and clients, and documenting work performed and materials used.
  • Relevant qualifications include prior experience in low-voltage or telecom installation, Access Control Systems, Video Surveillance System, a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation, and the ability to lift and carry equipment, climb ladders, and work in various site conditions.
  • Additional beneficial qualifications include industry certifications (e.g., BICSI or related), familiarity with basic networking concepts, and experience in telecommunications or construction environments.
