- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 3 years of experience with network routing protocols, design and troubleshooting, with network equipment providers.
- Experience in one or more programming languages such as C++, Go, or Python.
- Experience utilizing SQL and querying complex data structures to retrieve network diagnostics, combined with statistical analysis or AI/ML insights to identify failure trends.
- Experience with planning and designing large scale networks (e.g., multiple sites, multiple products, etc.).
- Experience developing software tools that programmatically analyze and troubleshoot global-scale IP (e.g., routing protocols, control planes) or optical networks (e.g., DWDM, OTN).
- Experience in Go programming and working with internal RPC/service frameworks, databases, and large-scale data pipelines.
- Experience creating formal technical requirements and design documents for complex, scalable software applications and services.
In this role, you will work at the intersection of global core network engineering and software engineering to build software solutions and introduce technologies. You will design and implement systems that directly enhance Google's network reliability, reduce operational toil, and optimize global cost per byte.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
US: $126000 - $181000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits

- Drive the quantifiable analysis of measurements, or data and capacity forecast models for making networks more scalable, efficient, and deliver predictable user experience.
- Evaluate the current inefficiencies, complexities, and flaws in network systems, and propose designs, software, and processes to improve them.
- Develop software that improves the performance, safety, transparency, and manageability of network systems.
- Participate in rotating schedules with other team members, including weekends.
