Operating across AI infrastructure, high-performance compute and large-scale technology environments, Sharon AI delivers scalable, secure and commercially sustainable infrastructure solutions supporting advanced AI workloads globally.
As Sharon AI continues to scale, we're looking for an experienced Network Engineer to support the delivery and ongoing operation of our network infrastructure across our data centre and AI compute environments in Auckland. Reporting to the Head of Operations, you'll be responsible for designing, implementing, monitoring and troubleshooting the network systems that underpin Sharon AI's high-performance compute platform.
This is an excellent opportunity for a network professional to develop their career within a high-growth AI infrastructure company.
What You'll Be Doing
- Design, implement and maintain enterprise network infrastructure (routing, switching, firewalls and load balancing) supporting Sharon AI's high-performance compute and AI infrastructure environments.
- Monitor network performance and capacity, ensuring high availability, low latency and resilience across data centre and compute cluster networks.
- Configure, upgrade and maintain core network devices and platforms, including switches, routers, firewalls and load balancers.
- Troubleshoot and resolve network incidents, performing root cause analysis and escalating as required to minimise downtime.
- Collaborate with infrastructure, data centre and security teams on network architecture and design for new deployments and expansions.
- Implement and maintain network security controls, including segmentation, VPNs and firewall policies, in line with Sharon AI's information security requirements.
- Maintain accurate network documentation, diagrams, configuration standards and change records.
- Participate in an on-call rotation to support critical infrastructure outside of business hours as required.
- Support capacity planning and network scaling activities as the business and its compute footprint grow.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of network tooling, automation and operational processes as the function matures and scales
What We're Looking For
- 3–6 years' experience as a Network Engineer within a data centre, enterprise, cloud or ISP environment.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Networking or a related discipline.
- Strong working knowledge of routing and switching protocols (BGP, OSPF, VLAN, STP) and network fundamentals.
- Experience configuring and supporting firewalls, VPNs and load balancers (e.g. Palo Alto, Fortinet, F5, Cisco, Arista or Juniper).
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical and incident-resolution skills.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with internal teams and external vendors.
Highly Regarded
- Familiarity with data centre and high-performance compute networking (e.g. InfiniBand, RDMA or low-latency fabrics).
- Relevant certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, JNCIA or equivalent, or progress toward CCNP, CCIE or equivalent.
- Background in technology, cloud, AI infrastructure or enterprise environments
Why Join Sharon AI?
This is an opportunity to join a high-growth AI infrastructure company and play a key role in the network systems underpinning our high-performance compute platform.
You'll work alongside talented infrastructure, data centre and security teams while developing your career at the forefront of AI infrastructure. If you're passionate about network engineering and want to help shape the future of AI infrastructure, we'd love to hear from you.
