Systems & Network Engineer (Managed Services Provider)
Metro Detroit | Hybrid Field-Based Role
Robert Half is partnering with a rapidly growing managed services provider (MSP) in the Metro Detroit area to identify an experienced Systems & Network Engineer who thrives in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.

This is not a traditional help desk position. We're seeking someone who enjoys building, improving, troubleshooting, and optimizing technology environments while making a direct impact on clients' businesses.
What You'll Do
- Provide both remote and on-site technical support to clients throughout the Metro Detroit area.
- Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot desktop, server, network, and virtualization environments.
- Support Windows desktop and server operating systems across multiple client environments.
- Assist with server upgrades, migrations, hardware deployments, and infrastructure modernization initiatives.
- Maintain and support backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity solutions.
- Monitor network performance and make recommendations to improve security, reliability, and scalability.
- Configure and support Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, file services, and messaging environments.
- Document all work performed and maintain accurate technical records.
- Collaborate with team members to solve complex technical challenges and deliver exceptional client service.
Required Qualifications
- Three or more years of hands-on experience supporting complex IT infrastructures.
- Experience supporting Microsoft Windows desktop and server environments.
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP networking concepts, including routing and subnetting.
- Experience with virtualization platforms, including VMware and Hyper-V.
- Knowledge of backup and recovery platforms such as Veeam, Datto, Barracuda, or similar solutions.
- Experience with Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Exchange, and file services.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
- Reliable transportation and the ability to travel locally to client sites.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Linux administration.
- Experience supporting SAN technologies.
- Familiarity with VoIP platforms.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks and compliance standards, including CMMC.
- Experience performing migrations from legacy systems to modern environments.
- Industry certifications such as A+, MCSE, CCNA, or related credentials.
