The Company

PiPiper is an Irish owned developer of open access fibre infrastructure, delivering high-capacity connectivity across national and metro networks. Our platform is designed to support large scale data movement with low latency, high resilience, and performance.

Our long-distance network and strategically located metro Points of Presence enable seamless intercity connectivity, forming secure, high bandwidth corridors across Ireland.

PiPiper provides tailored infrastructure solutions with enterprise grade service levels, supporting demanding workloads where performance, control, scalability, and reliability are critical.

The Opportunity

The Fibre Network Engineering Lead is PiPiper's Engineering Authority for the Fibre Network. The role owns the technical standards, network architecture, GIS, network records, and engineering governance that define how the network is designed, documented, and maintained throughout its lifecycle.

The role is responsible for the governance of PiPiper's network inventory systems, technical standards, engineering documentation, and network records. This includes ownership of the GIS & fibre inventory, fibre allocation, technical documentation, permitting systems, and network record systems, ensuring network data remains accurate, controlled, and auditable from design through construction, as-built acceptance, and operational handover.

The Fibre Network Engineering Lead reviews and technically approves vendor and contractor proposals to ensure alignment with PiPiper's engineering standards, network architecture, and operational requirements. The role also provides technical support to the delivery teams, ensuring approved engineering information is issued, controlled, and maintained throughout the project lifecycle.

What You'll Do

Network Architecture and Design Authority

  • Act as technical authority for PiPiper’s fibre network architecture and network inventory structure.
  • Define how the network is designed, built, structured, documented, and maintained.
  • Review and technically approve vendor and contractor proposals.
  • Ensure all network designs align with PiPiper standards, operational requirements, and long-haul network strategy.

Systems Governance, GIS Inventory and Network Records

  • Provide technical governance of PiPiper’s systems.
  • Define standards for data structure, network naming, records management, and asset traceability.
  • Own and maintain the GIS inventory of routes, ducts, subduct, chambers, fibre, termination hubs, and network assets.
  • Maintain accurate fibre allocation and utilisation records across the long-haul network.
  • Ensure network records accurately reflect approved designs and installed assets.
  • Control updates, revisions, and data integrity within the inventory system.

Technical Documentation Control

  • Create and own technical documentation standards, templates, and revision control.
  • Ensure only approved and current technical information is issued to delivery teams and contractors.
  • Sign off as-built documentation prior to handover.

Authority and Stakeholder Systems

  • Prepare and manage technical submissions to state agencies, and local authorities.
  • Interface with external systems and portals used for permits, wayleaves, and approvals.
  • Ensure technical records align with authority requirements and approvals.

Support to Delivery and Handover

  • Produce and control technical packs for delivery teams and contractors (maps, route sections, chamber schedules, BOM inputs where needed).
  • Support the Project Engineer and site teams with design checks and network changes against standards and buildability.
  • Manage revisions, making sure the latest approved information is the only version in use.
  • Ensure handover data, GIS layers, and asset records are complete and audit-ready.

What You'll Bring

  • Strong experience in fibre GIS systems, long-haul fibre networks, and network records management.
  • Experience acting as technical or design authority within telecoms infrastructure.
  • Strong understanding of fibre allocation, network architecture, and carrier-grade network records.
  • Experience creating and governing technical standards and documentation.
  • Comfortable reviewing and technically approving vendor and contractor proposals.
  • Strong understanding of civils and fibre installation practices.
  • Detail-focused with a structured and disciplined approach to technical governance and data integrity.

What Success Looks Like

  • The network is built and recorded in line with approved architecture and technical standards.
  • Network records, fibre allocation, and GIS inventory remain accurate and controlled.
  • Technical standards and documentation are consistently applied across the programme.
  • Vendor proposals and network changes are technically governed and controlled.
  • Reliable, audit-ready network data supports operations, customers, and future growth.
