Network Engineer-Core Engineering (Wholesale Voice/VoIP)

We are seeking an experienced Network Engineer – Core Engineering (Wholesale Voice/VoIP) to design, implement, and maintain carrier-grade voice and IP network infrastructure. This role is responsible for ensuring the performance, security, and reliability of core voice platforms, Session Border Controllers (SBCs), and VoIP services while supporting interconnections with domestic and international carriers. The ideal candidate has extensive experience with SIP technologies, NGN architectures, IP networking, and voice platforms, combined with strong troubleshooting and project leadership skills.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, configure, maintain, and optimize IPv4-based voice and data networks.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex network, VoIP, and core infrastructure issues.
• Lead the design, implementation, and migration of Next Generation Network (NGN) core telephony solutions.
• Support the integration of telephony and unified communications platforms.
• Optimize routing, switching, QoS, and network performance for voice traffic.
• Deploy, configure, maintain, and optimize Session Border Controllers (SBCs), including Metaswitch Perimeta and Sansay platforms.
• Implement and manage SIP trunking, carrier peering, and voice interconnection solutions.
• Perform interoperability testing and certification with domestic and international carrier partners.
• Monitor SBC performance, capacity, security, upgrades, and overall service availability.
• Troubleshoot SIP signaling, media, and call routing issues to ensure high service quality.
• Manage VoIP provisioning, service activation, configuration, and ongoing maintenance.
• Design, implement, and maintain secure voice infrastructure following industry best practices.
• Configure and manage firewalls, access controls, and network segmentation for voice environments.
• Design and deploy Network Function Virtualization (NFV)-based voice network components.
• Coordinate technical interconnections with carrier partners using public IP and private BGP connectivity.
• Ensure compliance with network security standards, policies, and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain accurate technical documentation and engineering procedures.
• Provide advanced engineering support for OpenSIPS, FreeSWITCH, Linux, and related VoIP platforms.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve network reliability, scalability, and operational efficiency.

Requirements:

• Minimum 7 years’ experience in telecommunications, with at least 5 years leading NOC and/or core engineering teams.
• Strong background in IP networking (IPv4, routing, BGP, switching, QoS).
• Expert-level knowledge of VoIP, SIP, and SBC operations (Metaswitch Perimeta, Sansay SBCs).
• Experience with OSS platforms and network monitoring/alarming tools.
• Proficiency in OpenSIPS, Linux, FreeSWITCH, and telephony platforms.
• Experience with NFV, network security, and firewall configuration.
• Degree in Computer Systems Engineering, Electronics & Communications, or related field.
• Industry certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent preferred.
• English fluency required; Spanish proficiency is an advantage.
