About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Risk Application Software Developer to join our technology team supporting business-critical risk platforms across the firm. You will design, develop, enhance, and support applications used by front-office, middle-office, and back-office teams to monitor portfolio risk, exposures, P&L, and investment analytics.


The ideal candidate has experience building software for risk management, trading, or capital markets and enjoys working directly with traders, portfolio managers, risk managers, and other business stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.


Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, enhance, and maintain enterprise risk and trading applications.
  • Build scalable, high-performance software supporting portfolio analytics, risk calculations, exposure reporting, and operational workflows.
  • Work closely with traders, portfolio managers, risk managers, operations, and technology teams to gather requirements and deliver robust solutions.
  • Develop and maintain APIs, services, integrations, and data pipelines supporting risk and investment platforms.
  • Write efficient SQL queries and optimize database performance for large financial datasets.
  • Participate in system architecture, code reviews, testing, deployment, and production support.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve production issues in business-critical applications.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation and be available to support high-priority production incidents, including occasional evenings and weekends when required.
  • Continuously improve system performance, reliability, automation, and operational monitoring.


Required Qualifications

  • 5-8 years of professional software development experience.
  • Experience building or supporting applications within a hedge fund, investment bank, asset manager, proprietary trading firm, or other capital markets environment.
  • Strong experience developing enterprise software using one or more modern programming languages such as C#, Java, C++, Python, or similar.
  • Strong SQL and relational database experience.
  • Solid understanding of software design principles, distributed systems, APIs, and application architecture.
  • Experience working with version control, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and Agile development methodologies.
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience developing risk management applications.
  • Knowledge of financial risk concepts such as Value at Risk (VaR), Greeks, P&L attribution, market risk, credit risk, liquidity risk, and portfolio exposure.
  • Experience with C#/.NET, Python, and/or Angular.
  • Experience supporting front-office applications and working directly with traders and portfolio managers.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms, messaging technologies, and real-time market data systems.
