Junior database administrator - Consultant

Mission

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Database Administrator (DBA) to join our team in Geneva. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of successfully installing, managing, and maintaining database systems. This role requires a proactive individual with a strong technical background, excellent problem-solving skills, and a commitment to ensuring the security, performance, and reliability of our database infrastructure. Experience with Data Guard and RMAN is highly desirable, and familiarity with data lake implementation is a plus.

Key Responsibilities

Database Administration

• Install, configure, monitor, and maintain database systems, including Oracle, Sybase, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB.
• Perform database troubleshooting, including performance tuning, technical issue resolution, and backup/restore operations.
• Manage and administer corporate data to ensure consistency, accessibility, and security.
• Define and implement technical database architectures, including clustering, replication, and high-availability solutions.
• Provide database support for development teams, ensuring optimal performance and scalability of applications.
• Contribute to the design and implementation of data lake solutions (preferred but not mandatory).

Security & Compliance

• Adhere to and enforce the organization’s security framework, ensuring compliance with established policies and procedures.
• Maintain a strong awareness of security best practices to protect the organization from vulnerabilities and potential exploits.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure database systems align with security and compliance requirements.

Collaboration & Innovation

• Work closely with cross-functional teams to support business objectives and deliver high-quality database solutions.
• Stay updated on emerging database technologies and trends, recommending improvements to existing systems and processes.

Experience

Skills & Experience

• Minimum of 3+ years of hands-on experience in database administration.
• Proven expertise in managing and optimizing Sybase, Oracle, and SQL Server databases.
• Experience with Data Guard and RMAN is highly desirable.
• Experience in data lake implementation is a plus.

Technical Skills

• Proficiency in database management tools and technologies, including DataGuard, RMAN, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB.
• Strong knowledge of database performance tuning, backup and recovery strategies, and high-availability solutions.
• Familiarity with database security best practices and compliance standards.
