Staff Engineer (Distributed Systems) at BairesDev

As a Staff Engineer (Distributed Systems), you will design and evolve the foundational components of large-scale, high-performance systems. You will serve as a technical authority, navigating the complex interplay between theoretical consensus models and practical system reliability to ensure seamless scalability across the enterprise.

What You'll Do

  • Architect and implement robust distributed services centered on consensus, replication, and fault tolerance.
  • Lead the technical strategy for complex system migrations and the evolution of core backend infrastructure.
  • Analyze and optimize system performance across compute, storage, and network layers to minimize resource waste.
  • Define organizational standards for operational excellence, including consistency models and durability patterns.
  • Resolve high-impact technical challenges that span multiple services, ensuring system-level correctness.
  • Mentor engineering teams and drive technical direction for distributed architecture and system design.

What We Are Looking For

  • 6+ years of experience in Software Engineering with a focus on distributed systems.
  • Proven expertise in distributed systems theory, including consensus algorithms like Raft or Paxos.
  • Proficiency in systems programming languages such as Go, Java, or Rust.
  • Deep understanding of system design principles, including replication, partitioning, and fault tolerance.
  • Strong ability to navigate complex latency and consistency tradeoffs in large-scale environments.
  • Advanced proficiency in English.
