Job Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and maintain database management systems (DBMS) and related software
- Monitor and optimize database performance to ensure efficient and reliable operations
- Develop and implement database backup and recovery plans, as well as disaster recovery plans
- Manage and monitor database security, ensuring that all sensitive data is protected
- Troubleshoot and resolve database issues, including performance, connectivity, and data integrity issues
- Develop and maintain database documentation, including data models, database schemas, and system architecture diagrams
- Ensure that databases are in compliance with regulatory requirements and data privacy policies
- Participate in the design and development of database systems, working closely with software developers and other IT staff
- Perform database tuning and optimization to ensure optimal performance
- Develop and implement database maintenance procedures, such as database defragmentation and data purging
- Manage and maintain database backups and disaster recovery plans
- Plan and implement database upgrades and migrations
- Other duties as assigned.
- Design, install, configure, and maintain enterprise-grade database platforms and supporting technologies.
- Monitor and optimize database performance to ensure maximum availability, scalability, and reliability.
- Implement and maintain robust database security and access control standards.
- Troubleshoot and resolve database, performance, and connectivity issues in a timely manner.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive database documentation, standards, and operational procedures.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, security standards, and data privacy policies.
- Partner closely with software developers and infrastructure teams to design and implement scalable database solutions.
- Perform database tuning and optimization to support growing business demands.
- Plan, execute, and support database upgrades, migrations, and modernization initiatives.
- Contribute to disaster recovery planning, backup strategies, and high-availability solutions.
- Take ownership of other database-related initiatives and projects as required.
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in Database Administration or Database Engineering.
- Strong expertise in one or more database technologies, including: MariaDB, MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server, Redis, Cassandra, Amazon Redshift, Amazon Timestream, Kafka, Flink, Hadoop/HBase.
- Strong understanding of database architecture, administration, and operational best practices.
- Proven experience in database performance tuning, optimization, and capacity planning.
- Experience implementing database security controls, user management, and access governance.
- Solid knowledge of backup, recovery, disaster recovery, and high-availability solutions.
- Experience with database monitoring and observability tools such as New Relic, AWS CloudWatch, or equivalent platforms.
- Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills.
