Job Summary

Responsible for maintaining the integrity and quality of enterprise database systems. They are responsible for ensuring server security is up to date, performing routine back-ups, and designing and implementing tests to address issues with accessing data.

Education & Experience

Education And Experience Required

Bachelor's degree and four (4) years of experience in computer science, information systems or database experience.

Certifications, Licenses Or Registration Required

Epic DBA certification or industry standard database certification.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Technical expertise in the maintenance and administration of enterprise database systems.

Responsibilities

  • Work within UMMC Service desk ticketing system
  • Monitors database environments.
  • Provides technical knowledge in the design, implementation, configuration, maintenance, and administration of enterprise database systems.
  • Identifies and resolves database problems within application environments.

  • Works with ODBA senior staff on projects and database implementations.
  • Identifies and resolves performance bottlenecks and related performance issues.

Physical And Environmental Demands

Requires occasional exposure to unpleasant or disagreeable physical environment such as high noise level and exposure to heat and cold, occasional handling or working with potentially dangerous equipment, occasional exposure to biohazardous conditions such as risk of radiation exposure, blood borne pathogens, fumes or airborne particles, and/or toxic or caustic chemicals which mandate attention to safety considerations, occasional working hours significantly beyond regularly scheduled hours, occasional travelling to offsite locations, occasional bending, occasional lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds, occasional crouching/stooping, occasional driving, occasional kneeling, occasional pushing/pulling, frequent reaching, frequent sitting, frequent standing, occasional twisting, and frequent walking. (occasional-up to 20%, frequent-from 21% to 50%, constant-51% or more).
