Database Reliability Engineer

Istra is a successful leading Algo-Trading research company specializing in developing and deploying High Frequency Trading strategies (HFT). We are seeking a knowledgeable, purpose-driven Database Reliability Engineer to join our infrastructure and operations team.

In this role you will be:

• Design, implement, configure, and maintain database platforms, including MySQL, Redis, Elasticsearch, InfluxDB, etc. within Linux environments.
• Manage databases deployed across both on-premises infrastructure and cloud environments.
• Support developers and users with query design, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.
• Monitor database health, capacity, and performance, proactively identifying bottlenecks and recommending improvements.
• Maintain database availability, reliability, data integrity, security, backup, and recovery processes.
• Work closely with developers, researchers, and infrastructure teams to resolve operational issues and improve database services.
• Assist with the operation and optimization of large-scale, high-throughput database clusters and distributed data platforms.
• Contribute to the planning, documentation, automation, and continuous improvement of database operations and procedures.

Requirements:

What you’ll need to succeed:

• 8+ years of experience in database engineering within large-scale, production-critical environments.
• Strong hands-on expertise in database infrastructure, automation, reliability, and performance optimization.
• Deep knowledge of database architecture, Linux systems, and system-level troubleshooting.
• Proven experience with MySQL, Redis, and InfluxDB.
• Working knowledge of ClickHouse, PostgreSQL, and Elasticsearch.
• Strong scripting or programming skills for infrastructure automation.
• Experience using AI agents or AI-assisted tools in complex technical environments.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a relevant technical certification, or equivalent practical experience.
• A practical and analytical approach to problem-solving, with strong communication skills and a high level of ownership.
• Advantage: Experience applying modern DevOps practices within complex environments.
