About The Role

As a Data Engineer, you will make an impact by designing, developing, and optimizing scalable cloud-based data solutions that power enterprise analytics and business decision-making. You will be a valued member of the Data Engineering team and work collaboratively with architects, developers, analysts, business stakeholders, and cross-functional technology teams to build modern data platforms and services.

In This Role, You Will

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines that integrate data from multiple sources into enterprise data platforms hosted on AWS.
  • Build and optimize ETL/ELT workflows using AWS services, Python, SQL, and cloud-native technologies to support high-volume data processing.
  • Develop and maintain secure, scalable APIs and data services that enable efficient access to business-critical data.
  • Support the modernization and migration of legacy data platforms and processes into cloud-based architectures.
  • Implement data quality controls, performance optimization, automation, and CI/CD best practices across data engineering solutions.

Based on this role’s business requirements, this is a hybrid position requiring 2 days a week in a client office in Charlotte, NC. What You Need To Have To Be Considered

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in Data Engineering, Data Warehousing, or Big Data environments.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Python, SQL, and database development in Oracle and MySQL environments.
  • Experience designing and supporting cloud-based data solutions using AWS services such as Lambda, EMR, Fargate, and CloudFormation.
  • Experience with Amazon Aurora and modern data warehouse platforms such as Snowflake.
  • Proven expertise in building and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines and data integration frameworks.
  • Experience developing REST APIs and data services within enterprise environments.
  • Knowledge of DevOps practices and tools including Jenkins, JIRA, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Strong understanding of data modeling, data quality, performance tuning, and optimization techniques.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

These will help you stand out

  • Experience migrating legacy data platforms and ETL solutions, including DataStage, to cloud-native architectures.
  • Familiarity with Birst analytics solutions and enterprise reporting platforms.
  • Experience with Syncsort or similar data transformation and enrichment tools.
  • Knowledge of data governance, security, encryption, and compliance best practices.
  • Experience working within Agile delivery environments.
  • AWS certifications or other cloud-related credentials.

Salary And Other Compensation

Applications will be accepted until August 24th, 2026.

The annual salary for this position is between $108,000 - $120,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
