This role is crucial in ensuring the reliability and security of global cloud services, with a focus on client's mobile services in the EU region.
As an Big Data Engineer, you'll work in an exciting environment where your skills will shine, and your contributions will make a real impact. Our client is looking for someone that is open to upskill in the SRE area as well.
Key Responsibilities:
Lifecycle Engagement: Improve the entire service lifecycle, from inception and design through deployment, operation, and refinement.
Reliability Assurance: Ensure systems are reliable, fault-tolerant, efficiently scalable and cost-effective.
Monitoring Excellence: Maintain services post-launch by measuring availability, latency and overall system health. Embrace sustainable incident response and foster a culture of blameless postmortems.
Big Data Design: Design and implement robust big data systems that support our core products and business objectives.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Solid understanding of data structures, complexity analysis, and software design principles.
- Experience with technologies like Hadoop, Spark, Flink, Kafka, ClickHouse and Hive, some that can maintain & handle those tools.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of strategies for ingesting, modelling, processing and persisting data, including ETL design and dimensional modelling.
- Experience running production-grade services at scale and an understanding of cloud-native technologies and networking.
- Ability to develop tools and APIs to minimise human interaction with systems and applications, utilising various coding and scripting standards.
- Expertise in designing, analysing and troubleshooting large-scale distributed systems is a plus.
