Cloud Database Administrator (Azure) for NATO with security clearance
Indexed description
Would you like to join the leading international intergovernmental organisation?
Behind every decision NATO makes sits data, and behind that data sit the databases you'd own. The Alliance is modernising how it stores, moves and protects information across on-premises and cloud, and it's looking for an expert SQL Server DBA who treats a database like critical national infrastructure, because here it is.
This is a hands-on, senior seat. You'll install, tune, secure and safeguard database platforms that 32 nations rely on, building the automation, the high-availability and the disaster-recovery that mean the data is simply always there. You'll lead the migration into Azure, set the governance standards, and be the person who finds the real root cause when something breaks.
What you'll do
- Install, configure, upgrade, back up and harden SQL Server across on-prem and cloud
- Engineer high availability and disaster recovery, Always On, failover clustering, replication
- Lead database migration and modernisation into Azure (Azure SQL DB, Managed Instance)
- Automate administration, monitoring and reporting with PowerShell, T-SQL and Python
- Design data pipelines and integration across SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL and MongoDB
- Own performance, capacity and security, and the root-cause analysis when it matters
- Expert-level Microsoft SQL Server administration, tuning and troubleshooting
- Real depth in HA/DR: Always On Availability Groups, failover clustering, replication, backup & recovery
- Cloud database experience, ideally Azure; comfort with PostgreSQL, MySQL/MariaDB and MongoDB
- Automation and scripting in PowerShell, T-SQL and/or Python; IaC and CI/CD for databases
- Solid grip on secure database practice, access control, encryption, auditing, vulnerability management
- Fluent professional English
