We're seeking a Senior Database Developer with deep PostgreSQL expertise and strong AWS experience to help shape the future of our enterprise data architecture.
Please Note: This is a database development role, not a Database Administrator (DBA) position. Candidates whose experience is primarily DBA-focused will not be considered.
As a Senior PostgreSQL Developer, you'll be responsible for designing, developing, optimizing, and modernizing enterprise database solutions that support mission-critical products, analytics, and operational systems.
Database Development & Performance
- Architect and develop scalable, high-performance PostgreSQL database solutions
- Write and optimize complex SQL and PL/pgSQL stored procedures, functions, and triggers
- Analyze query execution plans and implement performance tuning strategies
- Improve database reliability, scalability, and availability
- Lead PostgreSQL, Aurora, and Redshift version upgrades and modernization efforts
Cloud & Data Engineering
- Manage and optimize AWS database environments, including Aurora PostgreSQL and Redshift
- Design and maintain data pipelines supporting operational and analytical workloads
- Build Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using Terraform
- Contribute to data lake, data mesh, and cloud-native architecture initiatives
- Support event-driven data solutions leveraging AWS services
Required Experience
- 10+ years of PostgreSQL development experience
- Advanced expertise in SQL, PL/pgSQL, query tuning, and database optimization
- Experience with Amazon Aurora (PostgreSQL-compatible)
- Experience with Amazon Redshift and analytical data platforms
- Strong understanding of database architecture and performance engineering
- Experience building and maintaining data pipelines
- Infrastructure as Code experience using Terraform
Preferred Technical Skills
- AWS Lambda, Step Functions, and event-driven architectures
- NoSQL technologies such as DynamoDB or MongoDB
- Microservices and distributed systems design
- Git-based development and database change management
- .NET, Java/JDBC, or Node.js integration experience
- Agile/Scrum methodologies, JIRA, and Confluence
- Data governance, cataloging, and security best practices
- AI-assisted development tools such as Claude
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline preferred.
