Cockroach DB Database Engineer

Job Title: CockroachDB Database Engineer / Database Platform Engineer

Employment Type : FTE Only

Locations: Plano, TX or Chandler, AZ

We are seeking an experienced CockroachDB Database Platform Engineer to design, deploy, and manage highly available distributed database platforms in a large-scale enterprise environment. If you have expertise in CockroachDB, PostgreSQL, Oracle Exadata, Kubernetes, Terraform, and Python automation, we'd love to hear from you!

Key Responsibilities:

Design, deploy, and manage distributed databases, including CockroachDB and PostgreSQL.

Administer and optimize enterprise database platforms such as Oracle, Exadata, and Redis.

Manage containerized database deployments using Kubernetes.

Automate infrastructure provisioning using Terraform (Infrastructure as Code).

Develop Python scripts for database automation, integrations, and operational tasks.

Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for database and infrastructure deployments.

Ensure high availability, scalability, performance, and reliability of database environments.

Perform database monitoring, troubleshooting, performance tuning, and capacity planning.

Provide L2/L3 production support, incident resolution, and root cause analysis.

Implement database security, compliance, backup, recovery, and access control policies.

Collaborate with DevOps, Cloud, Infrastructure, and Application teams.

Required Skills:

Strong experience with CockroachDB (preferred) or other distributed database platforms.

Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL, Oracle Database, Oracle Exadata, and Redis.

Strong knowledge of Kubernetes and containerized database management.

Experience with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).

Proficiency in Python scripting and automation.

Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP.

Strong Linux administration skills.

Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.

Strong troubleshooting, production support, and database performance tuning experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices.

Knowledge of Prometheus, Grafana, and observability tools.

Experience with distributed architectures, data replication, and sharding.

Strong understanding of enterprise database reliability and scalability.
