Senior Software Engineer
Indexed description
Our teams build and maintain the systems behind seismic imaging and data processing, working closely with engineers, researchers and operations to deliver reliable, high-performance tools used across the industry.
Can you bring software expertise to our technology?
We’re looking for a Staff Software Engineer to join our team, based in Gatwick.
Working across development, research and infrastructure teams, you will play a key role in maintaining and improving our Reveal software platform, while providing technical leadership and guidance to engineers across the team. From day-to-day development through to architectural decisions and stakeholder engagement, you’ll be involved across the full software lifecycle.
Technically speaking…
Our software operates in high-performance computing environments, supporting complex geophysical workflows and large-scale data processing.
You will bring strong experience in C++ development, contributing high-quality code while supporting improvements to architecture, performance and reliability. You’ll be comfortable working with parallel computing frameworks and HPC environments, and able to contribute to areas such as build systems, debugging and release processes.
A key part of the role will also involve collaborating with HPC/IT teams, developers and researchers, ensuring the software meets both technical and user needs, while continuously improving development processes and quality standards.
In personal terms…
We’re looking for someone who combines deep technical expertise with a collaborative approach:
- Expert-level C++ experience (10+ years), with a strong understanding of memory management, concurrency and performance optimisation
- A solid background in HPC and parallel computing (MPI, OpenMP, CUDA, cluster/job scheduling)
- Proven technical leadership—able to guide engineers, make architectural decisions and clearly communicate with stakeholders
- A proactive, solutions-focused mindset, with the ability to work independently and take ownership
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to work across technical and non-technical teams
- Competitive salary and benefits
- The opportunity to work on large-scale, performance-critical software in a specialised domain
- A collaborative environment with close interaction between engineering, research and operations
- Ongoing development through mentoring, knowledge sharing and hands-on experience
- A global, technically focused organisation with a culture of transparency and continuous improvement
