The role
This pre-seed startup is rebuilding statutory audit from the ground up. They're replacing manual, sample-based processes with a fully online, transaction-by-transaction audit service for UK and Norwegian companies, quoted instantly and onboarded in minutes. Backed by $5M in pre-seed funding from leading investors, they're tackling a complex, regulated domain with a small, senior engineering team.
As a Founding Engineer, you'll own the agent layer of this new audit operating system from day one. This isn't a role about picking up tickets; it's about taking charge of ambiguous problems, shaping the product roadmap, and building the core machinery that plans, executes, and improves audit work. You'll learn the audit domain deeply, working directly with auditors. This role is for engineers who thrive on real ambiguity and defining the solution, not those seeking a pre-defined roadmap.
The work
- Architect and build the core agent layer that automates statutory audit processes.
- Develop the systems for autonomous audit planning, execution, and evidence verification.
- Implement the feedback loops and machinery that allow the agent layer to learn and improve its own evidence.
- Work directly with state-authorised auditors to translate complex ISA standards into deterministic software.
- Influence the product roadmap and technical architecture of a greenfield audit OS.
- You've personally shipped and been accountable for systems end-to-end, not just contributed.
- You have practical experience building and measuring LLM systems, beyond just prompting.
- You can decompose complex, ambiguous processes and iterate directly with subject-matter experts.
- You are genuinely committed to an office-first environment in Oslo (4 days/week).
- Experience in fintech, accounting, or other regulated domains is a plus.
