Embedded Engineer
I’m supporting a fast-growing European space technology company that is looking for an Embedded Engineer to take ownership of the embedded Linux layer within a satellite payload system.
This is a deeper embedded role, sitting close to the hardware. You’ll be responsible for the embedded Linux platform, Yocto environment, drivers, hardware interfaces, board bring-up, testing strategy, and the connection between application software, electronics and FPGA systems.
This would suit someone who enjoys being the person who makes the platform work properly, not just writing application code on top of it.
What you’ll be doing:
- Building and maintaining Yocto-based embedded Linux systems
- Working on Linux kernel, drivers, BSPs and device trees
- Supporting hardware interfaces such as SPI, I2C, UART and PCIe
- Working with FPGA/SoC interfaces such as AXI and DMA
- Supporting board bring-up and hardware debugging
- Using tools such as JTAG, oscilloscopes or logic analysers
- Building embedded test frameworks, HIL / system-level testing and CI/CD
What we’re looking for:
- Strong C/C++ embedded software experience
- Hands-on embedded Linux and Yocto experience
- Linux kernel, driver, BSP or device tree exposure
- Experience debugging hardware/software issues
- Ability to work independently in a small technical team
- Bonus: Zynq / Xilinx / AMD SoC, FPGA interfaces, aerospace, satellite systems, CCSDS, ECSS, Rust
This is a strong opportunity for someone who wants to own a critical embedded platform and work at the boundary between software, hardware and space systems.
