DV / eDV Software Engineer
Salary £70,000-£110,000 + benefits
Remote-first (max 1 on-site day per month)
UK national security & defence
The role
I’m partnered with a national security-focused organisation on a DV / eDV-cleared Software Engineer position working on mission-critical systems that support UK defence and intelligence operations. You’ll join a high-trust engineering team building and maintaining secure, modern software platforms rather than legacy, end-of-life systems
This is a permanent role with long-term programme funding, offering a genuine blend of impact, stability, and flexibility rarely seen in the DV / eDV space.
What you’ll be doing
- Designing, developing and maintaining secure software solutions for high-sensitivity environments.
- Contributing to architecture and technical direction across complex, large-scale systems
- Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams (engineering, security, operations) to deliver robust, production-ready features.
- Building high-quality, well-tested code using modern engineering practices and tooling (CI/CD) automation, code review).
- Working within strict security, compliance and assurance frameworks required for DV / eDV-cleared projects.
What we’re looking for
You don’t need the “perfect CV”, but you must already hold active DV or eDV clearance.
- Strong background as a Software Engineer (senior-level or above) in complex, mission-critical systems.
- Experience with at least one modern language commonly used in secure environments (e.g. Java, Python, C++, Go, C# or similar).
- Solid understanding of secure coding principles, systems design, and high-availability architectures.
- Comfortable working in highly regulated environments with strict controls around data, access and change.
- UK national with current DV or eDV clearance in place, this is essential for interview and onboarding.
