AI Automation Engineer

Apilex is an AI-native legal operating system that manages lawyers' entire legal workflows end to end, powered by AI systems purpose-built for each jurisdiction's legal framework. We bring legal research, drafting of pleadings and contracts, document analysis, and case preparation together in a single experience. We currently operate in France, Turkey, and Germany, and we aim to extend the growth we've achieved in our current markets to Brazil, Spain, and Italy.

Every team at Apilex; Growth, Sales, Marketing, Customer Success, Product, Finance, and People spends countless hours on manual tasks that intelligent agents could handle faster and more consistently. From pre-call research and ticket triaging to chasing stale deals, these tasks aren't complex, but they eat away at high-value time.

We are building an internal engineering team to solve this. Rather than sitting in a central ticket queue taking automation requests, you will embed directly with business units, analyze real workflows, and build high-impact LLM-powered agents that return measurable hours to the company.

What you'll do

• Embed & Discover: Sit with teams for weeks at a time, shadow their workflows, and identify high-leverage opportunities to automate manual work.
• Build End-to-End: Design, build, deploy, monitor, and iterate on LLM-powered agents and integrations.
• Integrate Systems: Connect our GTM and operational stack (CRM, support desk, data warehouse, internal tools) with models via robust APIs, webhooks, and data pipelines.
• Build Foundations: Create shared infrastructure for the team, including credential management, observability, evaluation harnesses, and human-in-the-loop fallback layers.
• Instrument & Measure: Ensure every agent ships with built-in tracking to evaluate performance, failure states, and overall system accuracy.
• Own Outcomes: Drive business impact measured in hours returned and costs avoided—not just the quantity of workflows shipped.

What we're looking for

• 3+ years of production software engineering experience using Python or TypeScript, with a proven track record of owning critical services.
• Hands-on LLM engineering experience: Expertise in structured outputs, function/tool calling, RAG, agent loops, and orchestration frameworks (including knowing when not to use them).
• Strong integration and GTM stack experience: Deep understanding of REST APIs, webhooks, auth flows, rate limits, and navigating third-party systems (CRMs, support desks, enrichment tools).
• Evaluation & Rigor: Ability to build evaluation harnesses and test sets to prevent prompt regressions and ensure production reliability.
• Pragmatic approach & domain awareness: Familiarity with data engineering workflows (warehouses, pipelines) and compliance constraints (GDPR/KVKK) when handling customer data.
• Strong cross-functional communication: Ability to interview non-engineers (sales reps, support leads) to diagnose root problems and translate them into technical requirements.
• Bias for simplicity: Passion for shipping the simplest working solution—whether that’s a full agent system or 40 lines of code and a cron job.
