ROLE: DECT NR+ Wireless Systems Architect / Specialist

LOCATION: Hanover, Germany

SALARY: Negotiable

DURATION: Permanent


Overview:

I am currently supporting an innovative technology client seeking an experienced DECT NR+ Wireless Systems Architect / Specialist to join their growing R&D function.


This opportunity is ideal for someone with a strong background in wireless communications and embedded systems who wants to play a key role in developing next-generation products. You will have the opportunity to influence architecture decisions, drive technical innovation, and work closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams throughout the full product development lifecycle.


Responsibilities:

  • Lead the architecture and design of wireless communication systems and digital signal processing algorithms based on DECT NR+ technology.
  • Develop system concepts and technical solutions from initial requirements through to implementation.
  • Conduct performance analysis, simulations, and measurements including:
  • Robustness
  • Timing analysis
  • Interference analysis
  • Coverage evaluation
  • System optimization
  • Contribute to the implementation, optimization, and debugging of DECT NR+ PHY/MAC protocol stacks in embedded environments.
  • Manage and coordinate functional work packages, ensuring delivery, planning, and technical risk management.
  • Participate in technical reviews, architecture discussions, and key design decisions.
  • Support standardization activities and collaborative research projects.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to engineers across wireless technologies and DECT systems.
  • Create technical documentation including architecture definitions, specifications, interfaces, and testing concepts.
  • Contribute to future technology roadmaps and identify opportunities for innovation and reusable development methodologies.


Requirements:

  • Master's degree (or equivalent) in Communications Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Strong hands-on experience with DECT NR+, including PHY/MAC implementation and optimization.
  • Deep understanding of wireless communications and digital signal processing, including:
  • Channel coding
  • Time/frequency synchronization
  • Robustness mechanisms
  • Embedded software development experience using C/C++.
  • Experience using Python and/or MATLAB for analysis, simulation, and prototyping.
  • Experience integrating signal processing algorithms into DSPs, FPGAs, or SoCs would be advantageous.
  • Experience working with standards/specifications or contributing to standardization activities is beneficial.
  • Interest or experience in open-source development environments is advantageous.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams.
