Responsibilities

About the Role

We are looking for a Software Development Engineer to design and build the next generation of electromagnetic (EM) simulation and RF/microwave design automation tools. You will work on the software that powers full-wave EM solvers, layout-driven extraction f lows, and the automation pipelines that turn foundry technology data (ITF/LTD, layermaps, tech files) and physical layout (GDS) into accurate S-parameter models.

This role sits at the intersection of computational electromagnetics, numerical methods, and large-scale software engineering. You will collaborate with EM research scientists, application engineers, and product managers to deliver robust, high-performance features used by RF, mmWave, IC design teams worldwide.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain core components of an EDA electromagnetic (EM) simulation platform (field solvers, meshing, matrix assembly/solve, post-processing, and result extraction).
  • Implement and optimize computational electromagnetics algorithms — e.g., Method of Moments (MoM), Finite Element Method (FEM), and time-domain (FDTD) techniques.
  • Build automation and data-processing pipelines: technology file conversion (ITF → LTD), layout/GDS import, port/pin placement, simulation setup, and S-parameter (SnP) export.
  • Develop and maintain tooling and utilities (parsers, comparators, validators) for technology stackups and simulation inputs to ensure correctness and reproducibility.
  • Profile and optimize performance-critical code for speed, memory, and scalability, including multi-threaded, distributed, and GPU-accelerated execution.
  • Participate in design reviews, code reviews, testing, and debugging; write clean, well tested, maintainable code. Collaborate with EM squad to translate numerical methods and prototypes into production-quality, cross-platform (Windows/Linux) software.
  • Leverage AI-powered development tools, coding assistants, and autonomous agents to accelerate design, development, testing, debugging, and documentation.

Qualifications

Qualification: B.E./M.E./Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or a related field

Required Skills

  • Strong programming skills in C++ (Modern C++ preferred) and/or Python, with solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, and software design principles.
  • Good understanding of Object-Oriented Design, Design Patterns, and Software Engineering principles.
  • Solid foundation in numerical methods and linear algebra (matrix solvers, sparse systems, iterative methods, floating-point numerics).
  • Experience developing on Linux and/or Windows, with familiarity in build systems (CMake), version control (Git), and CI/CD workflows.
  • Strong problem-solving, debugging, and analytical skills.
  • Understanding of software security, testing, and code quality practices.
  • Basic understanding of high frequency electronic design, its process (PCB/PKG/RFIC/MMIC) and key components. Understanding electromagnetic / RF / microwave theory (Maxwell's equations, transmission lines, S-parameters, antenna parameters, signal & power integrity).

Preferred Skills

  • Familiarity with electromagnetic simulation tools
  • Knowledge of computational electromagnetics (FEM, MoM, FDTD, integral-equation methods) or other physics-based simulation techniques.
  • Familiarity with EDA tools and flows (e.g., ADS, RFPro, EMPro, Momentum, HFSS, Cadence, or similar) and technology data formats (GDS, ITF, LTD, layermap, tech files, Touchstone/SnP).
  • Experience with high-performance computing: multi-threading, MPI, GPU (CUDA/OpenCL), and performance profiling. Experience building automation frameworks, scripting APIs, or plugin architectures for simulation tools.
  • Experience using AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor) and understanding of AI/LLM concepts, prompt engineering, and agentic workflows.
  • Contributions to open-source scientific/numerical software.

Selection Process

  • HackerRank Assessment (C++ & Python)
  • Technical Coding and Design Interviews
  • Hiring Manager Interview

Preferred: Candidates with a strong software development background in EDA / CAD CAE / electromagnetic simulation, excellent problem-solving skills, and a passion for building high-quality products.
