AI Data Engineer
As AI Data Engineer at Lombard Odier Investment Managers, you sit at the critical boundary between our data platform and our AI capability layer. You don't build AI applications: you make data AI-ready. Your work is the foundation that determines whether our AI systems are reliable, accurate and trustworthy in a regulated investment management environment. You work in squads alongside AI Engineers and AI Transformation Managers to deliver AI use cases across Investment, Business Development and Operations. While the AI Engineer builds the solution, you ensure the data it consumes is properly structured, fresh, and AI-consumable.
A rare opportunity to build AI data infrastructure from the ground up in a leading asset manager, with direct impact on investment decisions.
YOUR ROLE
Data pipeline engineering for AI
- Build and maintain pipelines that transform raw financial data into AI-consumable formats (such as MCP) from our data platform and internal systems into Azure AI Foundry
- Contribute to the ingestion, chunking, embedding and indexing of unstructured data such as fund documents, client communications, market research, regulatory filings
- Build and maintain vector stores and semantic search infrastructure that power RAG and Agentic applications
- Ensure data freshness, consistency and reliability across all AI data pipelines
AI-ready data foundations
- Implement AI data standards: chunking strategies, embedding models selection, metadata schemas, data lineage for AI consumption
- Build feature pipelines for structured data use cases
- Implement monitoring and evaluation of data quality specifically for AI: detect data drift, embedding degradation, pipeline failures before they impact AI outputs
- Maintain clear documentation of data flows from source to AI consumption
Collaboration and standards
- Work closely with AI Engineers to understand what data their applications need and ensure it is available in the right format at the right time
- Interface with IT and the data platform team to access raw data and define requirements for new data sources
- Partner with business data owners and domain stewards to ensure business-led data semantics are correctly captured in AI-ready formats
- Contribute to data governance standards specific to AI: traceability, auditability, and compliance by design in a regulated environment
YOUR PROFILE
- Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in data engineering with demonstrable exposure to AI or ML data infrastructure
- Strong Python skills
- Hands-on experience with modern data platforms: Snowflake, Microsoft Fabric or equivalent
- Experience building and maintaining data pipelines at production scale
- Understanding of unstructured data processing: document parsing, chunking strategies, text preprocessing
- Familiarity with vector databases and Azure AI Foundry
- Experience with embedding pipelines and semantic search infrastructure
- Strong understanding of data quality principles and monitoring in production environments
- Exposure to financial services is a plus
- Team player with strong communication skills
- Autonomous, pragmatic, and delivery-oriented mindset.
