Senior C++ Software Engineer
Indexed description
Our client is a leading technology-driven investment firm where engineering is at the center of everything they build. Their infrastructure powers large-scale distributed computing, research platforms, real-time data systems, and the internal tooling relied upon by hundreds of engineers across the organization. As they continue expanding their engineering function, they're looking to add a Senior C++ Engineer to help evolve the core infrastructure that supports the firm's technology ecosystem.
In this role, you'll build the underlying platform services, frameworks, and developer infrastructure that enable engineering teams to deliver highly performant, reliable software at scale. Rather than working on a single product, you'll focus on creating foundational systems that improve the speed, stability, and efficiency of development across the entire organization.
This is an excellent opportunity for engineers who enjoy systems programming, distributed infrastructure, performance optimization, and solving complex technical challenges that have broad impact. You'll work alongside experienced infrastructure, networking, and systems engineers to shape the next generation of the firm's internal platform.
If you enjoy building software that other engineers depend on every day and want to tackle challenging C++ engineering problems in a highly technical environment, this role offers exceptional ownership and long-term impact.
What You'll Do
- Develop modern C++ infrastructure powering internal engineering platforms and production environments.
- Build scalable backend services, platform frameworks, and shared infrastructure used across multiple engineering teams.
- Optimize system performance through improvements in concurrency, memory management, scheduling, and resource utilization.
- Create internal developer tools, reusable libraries, and automation that streamline software development and deployment.
- Partner with infrastructure, networking, and application engineering teams to design resilient, scalable distributed systems.
- Contribute to the architecture of platform services with a focus on performance, reliability, observability, and maintainability.
- Provide technical leadership through design discussions, code reviews, and mentorship of fellow engineers.
What They're Looking For
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or another highly quantitative discipline.
- Significant experience developing production software in modern C++ (C++17, C++20, or newer).
- Strong understanding of Linux internals, multithreading, concurrency, systems programming, networking, and performance tuning.
- Experience building distributed systems, platform infrastructure, developer tooling, backend services, or other high-performance systems.
- Experience working in latency-sensitive or large-scale computing environments is advantageous, though experience in quantitative finance is not required.
Compensation
Base Salary: $340,000 – $400,000
Total Compensation: $675,000 – $975,000+
Why This Opportunity?
This is a chance to join an engineering-first organization where infrastructure is treated as a strategic investment rather than a support function. You'll work on technically demanding problems, influence the architecture of core platform technologies, and build systems that enable engineering teams across the firm to move faster and operate more efficiently. Engineers are given significant ownership, access to cutting-edge technology, and the opportunity to make lasting contributions to the firm's technical foundation.
