About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to develop and integrate Flight Controller software for autonomous UAV platforms. This is a hands-on engineering role focused on embedded software development, autopilot functionality, hardware integration, testing, and performance optimization. You will work closely with software, hardware, systems, and test teams to deliver reliable and secure flight-control capabilities.
Role Summary: Develop and maintain the software that enables autonomous UAVs to fly safely, reliably, and efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain Flight Controller software for autonomous UAV platforms.
- Implement new autopilot features and enhance existing flight-control capabilities.
- Integrate sensors, communication interfaces, and embedded hardware components.
- Support software bring-up, debugging, validation, simulation, and flight-testing activities.
- Collaborate with hardware, systems, manufacturing, and DevOps teams throughout the development lifecycle.
- Contribute to software architecture, design reviews, and technical documentation.
- Support software quality, performance optimisation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Requirements
- Bachelors' degree in Computer Science, Electrical, or Aerospace Engineering (Master's/PhD preferred).
- 8+ years of experience in embedded software development; 5+ years in flight controller, autopilot, safety-critical avionics (UAV or drone technology).
- Strong experience developing embedded software using C/C++.
- Hands-on experience with Autopilot stack including PX4 (must-have), MAVLink and RTOS (NuttX) and embedded OS environments (ARM Cortex).
- Experience in software and hardware integration activities.
- Familiarity with software development best practices, source control, and CI/CD workflows.
- Experience using static code analysis and software security tools (e.g., Coverity, SonarQube, Black Duck) for code quality, security, and compliance verification.
- Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills.
