We are seeking a highly motivated Associate to join our client's Investment Banking team in London, focusing on the Energy sector.
This role offers exposure to high‑profile, cross‑border transactions within a leading platform, with a strong track record in renewables-including onshore wind, offshore wind, and battery storage-while actively expanding into oil & gas and regulated utilities. You will gain hands‑on experience across complex strategic mandates, working closely with senior bankers and clients on execution and origination.
Responsibilities- Support the execution of M&A, minority investments, and capital‑raising transactions across the Energy sector, with a strong focus on renewables (onshore/offshore wind and energy storage) and growing exposure to oil & gas and regulated utilities.
- Develop and maintain detailed financial models and valuation analyses, including DCF, trading/transaction comparables, and project finance models relevant to infrastructure and energy assets.
- Coordinate transaction processes, including due diligence, data room management, and interaction with key stakeholders such as corporates, infrastructure funds, lenders, and advisors.
- Prepare high‑quality client materials, including pitch books, information memoranda, management presentations, and sector-focused analyses.
- Conduct in‑depth industry research, covering energy transition themes, renewable deployment, regulatory frameworks, and capital flows across infrastructure markets.
- Work closely with Vice Presidents and Directors to support client relationships and origination efforts, contributing to strategic idea generation across both core and growth sectors.
- Assist in reviewing and guiding Analysts' work, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and high standards across all deliverables.
- Experience: 3-6 years of investment banking or financial advisory experience, with exposure to Energy, Infrastructure, or Industrials, and a clear interest in renewables and energy transition.
- Technical Skills: Strong financial modelling and valuation capabilities, with familiarity in project-based and asset-heavy business models (e.g. renewables, infrastructure concessions, regulated assets).
- Sector Interest: Demonstrated understanding of renewable energy subsectors (wind, storage), with an interest in developing expertise in oil & gas and regulated utilities.
- Execution Ability: Proven ability to manage multiple work-streams and deliver high‑quality output under tight deadlines.
- Client Exposure: Comfortable working with senior stakeholders, including corporates, infrastructure investors, and private equity sponsors.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex analysis clearly and effectively.
- Analytical Mindset: Strong attention to detail, commercial judgement, and problem‑solving ability.
- International Exposure: Experience working on cross‑border transactions or with international teams is advantageous.
