SQL/.NET Systems Developer
£45,000
Location: Yorkshire (Remote)
Our client, a well-established business with a complex, high-volume billing environment, is looking for a SQL/.NET Systems Developer to join their Billing Systems team. This is a newly shaped role sitting at the intersection of software development and finance, focused on protecting revenue integrity across the business.
Rather than working on invoicing and billing operations directly, you will be designing and building the automated systems that sit behind the scenes, reconciling usage data against billing output, catching anomalies before they become revenue leakage, and giving Finance and Commercial teams the self-service reporting they need to investigate trends and exceptions on their own.
You will work closely with Finance, Billing, Commercial and Operations, translating real business problems into reliable, automated tooling that runs at scale.
What you will be doing
- Building systems that automatically reconcile usage records against billing output
- Designing detection, alerting and reporting for revenue leakage, billing anomalies and exceptions
- Validating tariffs, pricing changes and new product billing both before and after release
- Creating self-service reporting so non-technical stakeholders can investigate anomalies independently
- Processing high-volume usage and billing data reliably, with strong exception handling built in
- Carrying out root cause analysis on revenue incidents and implementing permanent, automated fixes
- Contributing to the wider Billing Systems codebase and recommending process improvements across billing and finance workflows
What we are looking for
- Strong SQL skills, including complex queries and performance tuning against high-volume datasets
- Commercial software development experience with .NET (C#)
- Experience building data processing or reconciliation pipelines, such as feed ingestion, large-dataset matching or exception handling
- An analytical mindset, comfortable digging into data discrepancies through to root cause
- Confidence working with non-technical stakeholders to turn reported issues into clear requirements and working software
- Strong commercial awareness
It would be a bonus if you also had
- Experience in billing, revenue assurance or finance operations
- Familiarity with Power BI
- Experience processing high-volume datasets running into millions of rows
- Knowledge of mediation, provisioning or billing platforms
- Experience with financial reconciliations
- Understanding of revenue assurance methodologies
- Exposure to automated testing and CI/CD practices
- Advanced Excel skills
This is a genuinely interesting role for a developer who enjoys solving real business problems with code, rather than just shipping features in isolation. You will have visibility across the business, direct impact on revenue protection, and the chance to shape how a growing billing systems function operates.
