This is not a role for someone who wants to manage engineering from a distance.

We are looking for a deeply hands-on technical leader to take ownership of a high-volume platform processing a huge number of real-time transactions every day.

You will join close to the code, the architecture and the engineering team. From there, the opportunity is to grow into broader technical leadership and ultimately become one of the most important people in the company.

The Opportunity

The platform sits at the centre of a fast-growing international technology business. Performance, uptime and correctness matter. Small improvements can have a significant commercial impact, while poor technical decisions can quickly become expensive at scale.

You will have real authority over how the platform evolves, including:

• Architecture and technical direction
• Scalability, performance and reliability
• Core C#/.NET development
• SQL performance and data integrity
• Distributed systems and caching
• API gateways, back-office services and integrations
• Engineering standards, testing and code quality
• Technical leadership and mentoring

This is a genuine builder’s role. You will be expected to review code, write code, challenge decisions and help the team solve difficult technical problems.

What we are looking for

We are open-minded on industry background.

You may come from electronic trading, payments, fintech, adtech, gaming, ecommerce or another environment where systems process very high transaction volumes and milliseconds matter.

What matters most is that you have:

• Deep C# and .NET experience
• Built or owned high-throughput transactional platforms
• Strong SQL and database performance knowledge
• Experience with horizontally scaled distributed systems
• A strong understanding of reliability, security and system design
• Led engineers while remaining technically hands-on
• The confidence to make pragmatic decisions without overengineering
• The communication skills to work directly with founders and senior management
