NET Developer
About the Opportunity
Our client regularly needs experienced developers to build and maintain large-scale, mission-critical applications on the Microsoft .NET stack. This posting is used to build a qualified candidate pipeline ahead of specific openings across multiple teams and contract vehicles.
Position Summary
The Senior .NET Developer will work alongside Systems Architects and cross-functional technical teams to design, develop, test, and implement large-scale web-based and enterprise applications supporting both internal staff and public-facing users. Candidates should be highly motivated, results-oriented, and comfortable owning technical decisions with minimal oversight, while communicating clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Core Responsibilities
Development & Architecture
- Architect, design, develop, and implement large-scale web-based applications using C#.NET, VB.NET, ASP.NET, and MVC
- Perform software analysis, design, development, and testing across the full application lifecycle for client-server and n-tier applications
- Design and build secure, scalable integrations using REST APIs, web services, and Windows Communication Foundation (WCF)
- Contribute to data modeling and object modeling for enterprise systems
- Design and enhance user interfaces and user experience across web and mobile platforms
Collaboration & Documentation
- Work closely with Systems/Solution Architects and cross-sector teams including development, infrastructure, security, and network operations
- Produce and review technical documentation, architecture diagrams, and design specifications
- Communicate effectively with both technical teams and business stakeholders
Security, Quality & Governance
- Apply secure development practices, including claims-based authentication and identity/access management standards
- Use static code analysis tools (e.g., CheckMarx) to ensure code quality and security compliance
- Support governance, environment management, and compliance requirements for enterprise applications
- Follow CI/CD and application lifecycle management (ALM) best practices
Required Skills
- Extensive experience architecting and developing large-scale web and Windows-based applications using C#.NET, VB.NET, ASP.NET, and MVC
- Strong background in .NET Framework and/or modern .NET (6+), Entity Framework / EF Core, ADO.NET, and LINQ
- Proficiency with SQL Server (stored procedures, views, triggers) on recent versions
- Experience with JavaScript, AJAX, HTML, jQuery, CSS, and Bootstrap
- Experience with Web API and/or Windows Communication Foundation (WCF)
- Understanding of Object-Oriented Analysis and Design (OOA/OOD) and n-tier architecture
- Familiarity with Active Directory Federation Services (ADFS), claims-based authentication, and modern protocols (OIDC, WS-Fed)
Preferred Skills
- Experience with Blazor, WPF/XAML desktop applications, or rich client applications
- Reporting tools such as SSRS, Crystal Reports, or Power BI
- Microsoft Dynamics or SharePoint integration experience
- Microsoft certification(s)
General Minimum Qualifications
- Significant professional experience (typically 8+ years) in enterprise application development, with senior-level roles requiring more
- Strong written and verbal communication and documentation skills
- Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively across cross-functional teams
- Eagerness to learn, adapt, and implement new tools and technologies
Preferred Overall Qualifications
- Prior experience with government or public sector clients
- Experience working within a formal SDLC or client-defined development methodology
- Relevant Microsoft technical certifications
