About the role

At Cognizant, we're looking for a talented Node.js Senior Software Engineer to join our growing engineering team and help deliver scalable, cloud-native solutions for global clients.

In this role, you will work in a collaborative, agile environment, designing and developing modern applications and services while contributing to architectural decisions, technical innovation, and engineering best practices. You will have the opportunity to work with cloud technologies, CI/CD pipelines, microservices, and modern integration patterns to build solutions that make a real business impact.

What you'll do

• Design, develop, and maintain high-quality applications using Node.js and TypeScript/JavaScript.
• Build scalable and resilient microservices and API-based solutions.
• Develop secure integrations using REST APIs and event-driven architectures.
• Collaborate with architects, product teams, and fellow engineers to deliver robust solutions aligned with business requirements.
• Participate in architecture and code reviews, ensuring adherence to engineering standards and best practices.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code with a focus on performance, scalability, and reliability.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and automation initiatives to improve software delivery efficiency.
• Support the implementation of cloud-native solutions and infrastructure-as-code practices.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical challenges across applications and environments.
• Stay up to date with emerging technologies, industry trends, and engineering practices.

What We're Looking For

• Strong hands-on experience with Node.js development.
• Proficiency in TypeScript and/or JavaScript.
• Experience with GitHub Actions, Terraform, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Solid understanding of software engineering principles, design patterns, and object-oriented programming.
• Experience designing and developing microservices architectures.
• Strong knowledge of RESTful APIs and system integrations.
• Experience with event-driven architectures and distributed systems.
• Knowledge of any cloud platforms, with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) being highly desirable.
• Experience with automated testing frameworks and methodologies, including unit, integration, API, and UI testing.
• Understanding of modern AI-powered applications, including familiarity with Agentic AI concepts, LLM integrations, AI orchestration patterns, and intelligent workflow automation.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive mindset.
• Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
• Previous experience working directly with clients and business stakeholders.
