Position Overview
We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join a leading medical device organization developing innovative robotics and enabling technologies. In this role, you will develop foundational software components used across pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative clinical applications.
This is a hands-on individual contributor role requiring strong technical expertise, sound engineering judgment, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams throughout the software development lifecycle to deliver high-quality, scalable solutions while ensuring software meets functional requirements, technical specifications, and quality standards. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and passionate about building reliable software that supports cutting-edge medical technology.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain shared software components using C++ and Qt in a Linux environment.
- Build reusable data management components that integrate across multiple clinical software applications.
- Participate in all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including:
- Code reviews, documentation, integration, unit testing, defect resolution, code analysis.
- Ensure software components meet functional requirements, design specifications, and quality standards.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to troubleshoot issues, remove blockers, and deliver project milestones.
- Participate in daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and progress updates.
- Present project updates and milestone achievements as needed.
Required Qualifications
- 2+ years of professional software engineering experience.
- Strong experience developing applications in C++.
- Experience with the Qt framework.
- Professional experience developing in a Linux environment.
- Experience with Python scripting and automation.
- Working knowledge of SQL and SQLite.
- Experience designing and managing data models, schemas, and database architecture.
- Familiarity with data serialization formats such as JSON.
- Experience using version control systems (Git or similar).
- Knowledge of CI/CD development practices.
- Experience writing and maintaining unit tests.
- Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with robotics or medical device software.
- Knowledge of 3D geometry, visualization, or graphics development.
- Experience with CAD modeling or mesh processing.
- Experience developing reusable software components for complex engineering applications.
