What you will be doing in the role of a Sr. Software Engineer

Susan G. Komen is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to play a key role in building and maintaining Komen’s backend applications and services. The ideal candidate is a software developer with strong experience programming in C# (or similar), Microsoft .NET ecosystem, cloud development, and multi-service architectures. Additionally, the candidate must have hands-on experience connecting both internal and external systems together in efficient and performant ways to solve complex dataflows. In this role, you will need to translate Komen’s business needs into cloud services, applications, and workflows. This role will be responsible for updating our current applications/services, as well as developing and testing processes to ensure that new applications/services meet our company’s requirements.

What You Will Bring To The Table

  • Develop large-scale integrated services with enterprise-class quality and utilize your design, customer obsession, and communication skills to bring great experiences to our constituents.
  • Build and maintain secure, cloud-based solutions and services.
  • Implement cloud resource monitoring to proactively manage and address costs.
  • Prepare technical designs, perform code reviews, debugging and testing.
  • Responsible for the design, architecture, coding, and unit testing of complex enterprise level systems.
  • Work with business and operations personnel to ensure business requirements and system needs are met.
  • Solve significant technological challenges impacting the team and our customers.
  • Partner and collaborate with peer engineers and customers to deliver impact on our products.
  • Juggle multiple projects and contribute through all project phases, from brainstorming to deployment.
  • Advocate for development and deployment best practices leveraging code reviews, code analysis tools, CI/CD pipelines, and site monitoring to ensure 24/7 uptime of a performant web experience for our constituents.
  • Work in a collaborative development environment, providing both assistance & technical guidance to fellow team members.

We know you will have and be able to

  • Bachelor's degree and minimum 5 years experience in software development experience using C#, Java, or similar.
  • Track record of delivering services at scale and supporting complex production systems.
  • Experience in building cloud-based solutions/services on a public cloud (Azure, AWS, GCP, or similar).
  • Exercises broad authority and in-depth knowledge in area of expertise.
  • Proven technical abilities - problem solving, design, coding and debugging skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, as well as excellent listening skills.
  • Demonstrated excellence in coding, code review and technical communication.
  • Ability and passion to solve problems collaboratively with a small team, but also able to execute independently and make strong recommendations.
  • Ability to estimate, plan, and manage all tasks and report on progress in an agile remote environment.
  • Familiarity with developing complex workflows and API/REST based system.
  • Familiarity with Azure Cloud development is a solid plus.
  • Must have experience utilizing quality assurance/testing procedures to ensure good product delivery.
  • Must be an effective multi-tasker comfortable working on multiple products and projects.
  • Energetic, flexible, collaborative, and proactive; a team player who can positively and productively impact both strategic and tactical initiatives.

  • Passion for security, strong engineering, and development skills required including C#/.NET
  • Experience with owning or driving large scale and highly available services, components, or feature areas.
  • Ability to drive technical investigations and prototyping in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with solving real-world user problems at scale and building user-centered culture.
  • Write clean, self-explanatory code using SOLID principles and design patterns.
  • Fluency with version control and Git flows.
  • Comfortable using ticket-based technical project management (e.g., Jira and Asana).
  • Comfortable with presenting your work and receiving constructive feedback.
  • Confident in both qualitative and quantitative methodologies.

  • Competitive salary of $98,000 - $126,000/annual, exact compensation ranges are based on a range of factors including but not limited to the labor market, job level, internal equity, and budget.
