Senior C# Developer - Trading Technology

Role Overview:

An experienced C# Developer is sought to join a front office trading technology team based in Sydney. This role will focus on designing, building, and supporting business-critical applications used by traders, quantitative researchers, and technology teams. The position offers exposure to both server-side systems and user-facing applications within a fast-paced trading environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain business-critical trading and market-data applications.
  • Partner closely with traders, quantitative researchers, and engineers to gather requirements and deliver solutions.
  • Build highly available and scalable systems supporting real-time trading workflows.
  • Develop both backend services and desktop user interfaces.
  • Own the full software development lifecycle, from analysis and design through to production deployment and support.
  • Drive improvements in system performance, reliability, automation, and operational efficiency.
  • Contribute to technical architecture and engineering best practices.
  • Mentor junior engineers and support the growth of the wider development team.

Key Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical discipline.
  • Strong commercial experience developing applications in C#/.NET.
  • Experience building high-performance server-side systems, ideally including multi-threaded development.
  • Experience developing desktop applications, preferably using WPF or similar frameworks.
  • Solid understanding of object-oriented design principles and software engineering best practices.
  • Experience working across the full software development lifecycle.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate directly with front office stakeholders.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-moving, high-performance environment.
  • Experience troubleshooting, profiling, and optimising application performance.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to software quality.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with .NET Core and Linux-based deployments.
  • Knowledge of HTML, JavaScript, or modern web development frameworks.
  • Experience with React and/or TypeScript.
  • Exposure to real-time distributed systems or messaging technologies.
  • Previous experience within trading, capital markets, or financial technology environments.
  • Agile software delivery experience.

Location & Work Setup:

Sydney, Australia
Primarily office-based, working closely with traders, researchers, and engineering teams in a highly collaborative environment.
