Software Engineer

SOFTWARE ENGINEER — AUDITCOVER Sydney (remote-first) | Full-time | Real ownership from day one

AuditCover is an Australian insurtech building technology for tax audit insurance distribution through accounting firms and partners. We are building a faster, more AI-enabled, product-focused engineering function, and we are hiring a Product Engineer who wants real ownership over what they build.

This is not a narrow ticket-taking role. We want someone who can take rough ideas from brief to shipped outcome, work comfortably across backend systems, internal tooling, integrations and product features, and use AI as a natural part of how they deliver.

🔧 WHAT YOU'LL DO

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

• Take rough ideas through to shipped production outcomes
• Build and improve backend systems, internal tools, integrations and customer-facing features
• Use AI across the delivery cycle — scoping, prototyping, coding, debugging and refinement
• Reduce manual workflows through better automation and system design
• Contribute to engineering pace, quality and direction, not just task execution

Our stack includes C#, .NET 10, Entity Framework, SQL Server, Razor, JavaScript and AWS. You do not need to be an expert in every part of it — but you do need the foundation to work confidently in a backend environment and the drive to improve things as you go.

✅ THIS ROLE COULD SUIT YOU IF

• You have 3+ years of backend engineering experience and have shipped real things into production
• AI tools are already part of how you work — not something you're planning to explore, something you're already doing
• You think in products and outcomes, not just implementations
• You are comfortable taking ownership end-to-end — you don't wait to be told what to do next
• You can move forward from a rough brief without needing perfect requirements
• You want broad scope and direct impact, not a narrow lane in a large team
• You're ambitious — you want to grow quickly and eventually take on a technical leadership role

You don't need deep AWS expertise or years of SQL performance tuning. You do need solid backend fundamentals, a working knowledge of relational databases, and the ability to build and consume REST APIs without hand-holding.
