Tech Lead - Manchester (Hybrid)
.NET Core, Azure, Agentic AI, TypeScript
£85,000-£100,000 + Package
Not every Tech Lead role means stepping away from the code. This one certainly doesn't.
We're working with a growing Manchester technology business that's investing heavily in its engineering function. As they continue to modernise their platform and incorporate AI into the evolution of their stack, they're looking for a hands-on Tech Lead to help shape both the technology and the team.
You'll spend around 80% of your time designing solutions, writing code and tackling complex technical challenges, with the remainder focused on coaching engineers, supporting your squad and influencing the wider technical direction of the business.
What you'll be doing
- Leading a cross-functional product squad made up of engineers, QA, UX and product
- Remaining hands-on with modern .NET Core development, architecture and code reviews
- Coaching and mentoring developers whilst helping build a strong engineering culture
- Champion engineering quality such as SOLID principles, TDD, DRY and clean architecture
- Helping modernise a legacy CMS - carving it into React microservices
- Working alongside the CTO to influence architecture, AI adoption and future technical direction
What we're looking for
- Strong commercial experience with modern C#/.NET
- Previous experience leading or mentoring engineers whilst remaining hands-on
- Good knowledge of APIs, software architecture and engineering best practice
- Experience with React and TypeScript
- Azure experience would be ideal, although they'd happily consider someone with strong AWS experience
- Experience designing application data models, with a good understanding of database performance across technologies such as SQL Server, MySQL or Cosmos DB
- The CMS is built using PHP and Laravel but this is a bonus, not a requirement
- A collaborative engineer who enjoys solving technical problems and embedding agentic workflows
Why join?
You'll be joining a business that's investing heavily in technology, giving you the opportunity to influence what quality craftmanship looks like, and shape the future of the engineering function.
Alongside a competitive salary, you'll receive an annual bonus, private healthcare, pension, employee discounts, regular socials and hybrid working (three days per week).
