Te Tūranga | The Role
As a Senior Software Engineer, you'll design, build and maintain software solutions that deliver value for our customers and business. You'll work closely with engineers, product teams and stakeholders to solve complex problems, influence technical decisions, and contribute to the continuous improvement of our engineering practices.
You'll be a trusted technical contributor within your squad, providing guidance on solution design, supporting operational excellence, and helping to grow capability through mentoring and coaching.

- Experience designing, developing and maintaining high-quality software solutions across the full software development lifecycle.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to resolve complex or unfamiliar technical challenges.
- Deep knowledge of at least one technology stack and the ability to articulate trade-offs between technical solutions.
- Experience applying engineering best practices including code quality, test automation and DevOps principles.
- The ability to influence technical design decisions and challenge thinking constructively.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to adapt your style to different audiences.
- A passion for mentoring, coaching and developing others.
- Tertiary qualifications in Computer Science or equivalent industry experience.
- A commitment to continuous learning and ongoing professional development.
- Design, build, test and support software solutions that meet customer and business needs.
- Deliver secure, reliable and high-performing services that meet availability, reliability and quality expectations.
- Contribute to technical design decisions and guide engineers towards better outcomes.
- Mentor and coach engineers while helping to attract and onboard new talent.
- Drive continuous improvement across engineering practices, tools and ways of working.
- Identify and manage operational risks, ensuring solutions align with ASB standards, policies and guardrails.
- Participate in incident response, problem resolution and ongoing service improvement activities.
- Collaborate across squads and the wider technology community to deliver shared outcomes.
- Champion Agile ways of working and contribute to an environment of learning, innovation and continuous improvement.
