Join our Core Tribe as a Technical Consultant and help shape the Entitlements layer by building the Entitlements engine needed to migrate legacy functions and enable modernisation that powers ASB's digital experiences.
As a Technical Consultant, you will act as both a hands-on architect and a strategic leader, you will guide teams, make key technical decisions, and help define solutions that deliver real value for our customers.
You’ll tackle complex, enterprise-scale challenges, working closely with stakeholders and cross-functional teams. Your leadership will uplift best practices, foster innovation, and ensure our technology strategy aligns with business goals.

We advocate for T-Shaped teams, where you will engage in all facets of engineering throughout your day. We are seeking a Technical Consultant with a diverse mix of technical skills to support the following activities:
- Provide technical leadership for the entitlement’s solution, applying ASB’s established platform, integration, and architectural patterns to deliver scalable outcomes.
- Develop and implement technology strategies that align with business objectives
- Guide and mentor engineering teams, promoting best practices and continuous improvement.Guide implementation using shared SDKs, infrastructure standards, and CI/CD practices, ensuring alignment with security and compliance requirements.
- Work closely with API, integration, and streaming platform teams to design resilient service interactions and meet agreed service levels.
- Evaluate and de-risk emerging technologies, run pilots with clear success criteria and guide adoption across squads.
- Lead delivery of reusable integration components and reference architectures, provide hands-on guidance for complex implementations.
- Engage stakeholders (product, security, ops) to balance velocity with safety, communicate trade-offs and decisions clearly.
What You Bring
To thrive in this role, you’ll bring:
Experience
- 15+ years in software engineering, architecture and leadership.
- Proven leadership and decision-making skills, with a track record of successful project delivery. 5+ years in solution architecture
- .NET / C# including ASP.NET APIs
- PowerShell and Azure CLI
- NoSQL/Graph DB (Neo4j)
- Database engineering
- Azure and cloud-native development
- Azure DevOps and GitHub for CI/CD
- Docker, Kubernetes, AKS or similar
- API Gateways such as Kong
- Event streaming tools such as Apache Kafka
- REST APIs using OpenAPI or Swagger
- SDK and library development
- Agile delivery and user story refinement
- Strong technical documentation skills
